Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Live-Action Film Will Not Feature Broadway Songs

Disney’s live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast will feature song and dance like the original 1992 animated feature film where characters will sporadically break out singing songs originally composed by Alan Menken.  Now the composer himself has confirmed that the live-action remake will feature only songs from their original animated film, and not from the Broadway show.

“None of the songs from the Broadway made the film. I would’ve taken ‘If I Can’t Love Her’, but the problem is that was made for a very specific moment to end Act I of the Broadway show.”

IGN reports that three new songs are written for the upcoming movie.  ‘Forever More’ is the new song that Beast will sing while watching Belle leave.  ‘Forever More’ is another collaboration between Alan Menken and original Beauty and the Beast’s lyricist Tim Rice.  There’s also a new song called ‘Days In The Sun’ but no detail is provided as to which scene the song fits in.

Beauty and the Beast features Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast.  Luke Evans will play Gaston.  The film is currently scheduled for a March 17, 2017 release.
