E3 2015 has come and gone, leaving many gamers astonished by the ground-breaking titles to come. Fallout 4, Doom, Forza 6 and of course the long awaited The Last Guardian will all be gracing our systems over the next few years and they all look amazing thanks to the next generation hardware of the PS4 and Xbox One. Even though E3 2015 has to go down as a special event due to the truly spectacular games shown, there are 5 high points which define it and leave us excited for a golden age of video games to come over the next couple of years.
5) For Honor Announcement
“You will feel the weight of the weapon in your hand. The crash as you block an attack and the impact as you strike the winning blow.” – Jason Vandenberghe. For Honor, Ubisoft’s latest in a long line of new IP’s, was revealed at their E3 2015 press conference and it sure looks to reinvent the mele combat genre. What we saw was mind blowing! The scale of the battles, the implementation of co-operative play and the various time periods of each battle all congregated together to make this a stand out game and moment of E3. Although For Honor’s release date is likely set sometime in 2016, Ubisoft showed many other popular games which will be gracing us much sooner. Assassins Creed Syndicate, Rainbow Six Siege, Ghost Recon Wildlands and of course the highly anticipated Division. All these games look fantastic and stand Ubisoft in good stead going forward after what has been a fairly troublesome year. Lets just hope For Honor doesn’t receive a graphical downgrade like Watch Dogs.
4) Star Wars Battlefront Gameplay Reveal
After what was quite a monotonous conference from EA with the likes of Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 and CG trailers taking centre place, Star Wars Battlefront had to re-energize proceedings and offer a true game of the show contender. This heavy burden fell once again to talented developer Dice, with their much anticipated title and Star Wars Battlefront surely delivered on that burden. From stunning ice topped mountains to lush green forests, the game looked jaw-droppingly gorgeous. A true next generation title! Gameplay was finally showcased, reenacting famous battles from the famous films. Simply the scale of these multiplayer encounters is bind blowing, demoting Black Ops 3 to the back of a long queue of great games – Call of Duty has outstayed its welcome and it’s time to kick it out of the E3 party. Battlefront looks to be paying tribute to fans young and old of the saga, tying in with the The Force Awakens blockbuster movie realise in 2015. Star Wars Battlefront is ironically also releasing in 2015 and its gameplay reveal has grabbed everybody’s attention at E3 and sent Jedis everywhere into overdrive. May the force be with you!
3) PlayStation’s Conference Overall

Guerrilla, the developer behind franchises like Killzone, unveiled their new IP and it sure looks original. Tribes fighting robot dinosaurs, what’s not to like? Although I couldn’t quite hear the whole reveal due to the crowds insane reactions, the long awaited Final Fantasy 7 remake was then confirmed and kept up momentum. A pretty CG trailer showcased the spectacular game. Next the Shenmue 3 kickstarter graced the stage with a $2 million dollar target. The game is sure to be developed with that $2 million dollars being raised in little under 12 hours! Finally, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End rounded off proceedings with diverse open world like gameplay, creating buzz around Sony’s E3 efforts this year. If you weren’t exhausted at the end from all the reveals, comebacks and ultimately fantastic games shown, you must have fallen asleep at crucial moments.

Play as male or female – this is the year of the strong female protagonists and it’s a welcome change making our industry only better. Additionally, man’s best friend and vats also made an appearances at the show, a gentle reminder that this is a tangible believable world that is open for you to explore and shoot in thanks to versatile shooting mechanics.
