If you were holding off for Blizzard’s hit MMO World of Warcraft to finally go free-to-play like the rest of the MMO industry seems to be doing, Blizzard president and CEO Mike Morhaime may be your worst enemy since he thinks the game isn’t designed for that type of game.
“We’ve laways approached the business model out of what’s appropriate for each individual game,” he said. “In World of Warcraft, the first 20 levels are free, anyone can download it…without paying a subscription.” …”[World of Warcraft] was not designed as a free to play game. I don’t see that kind of transition happening to WoW.”
Blizzard also announced a new expansion for World of Warcraft, which you can read more about here.
